Description
The Big Trail 600 scores an impresive 9/10 from MBR! Read The Full Review Here. 29er aluminium hardcore hardtail with Rock Shox Pike 140mm Air sprung fork Shimano Deore x 12 drivetrain The original Big Trail was designed on the back of a napkin when several UK customers and Merida’s German RandD team chewed the fat about what would make the perfect UK trail bike. The resulting bike received rave press reviews and delighted customers worldwide. Since then Merida’s RandD team have wowed the mountain bike world winning the coveted MBUK Bike of the year in both the Trail bike and Enduro bike categories. Big Trail II takes many of those award-winning learnings: A steeper seat angle up from 75.5° to 76.5° puts the rider in an efficient climbing position and shortens the top tube allowing Merida to extend the reach meaning the bike doesn’t feel too long when you’re pedalling in a seated position but provides plenty of stability on rough terrain. The head angle goes from an already progressive 65.5° to 64.0° and when combined with a large 70mm BB drop up from 66.5?mm gives the feeling of ‘sitting in the bike’ rather than ‘on it’ providing plenty of stability and confidence when things get rowdy. The geometry follows the Agilometer principles which means most sizes work for most body sizes so riding style can be factored in. If you want to go crazy fast take the longer size for agility take a shorter size. Highlights: Modern trail bike geometry with long reach slack head angle and steep seat angle 140mm Rock Shox Pike Air fork 1 x 12 Shimano Deore drivetrain Shimano XT 4 piston hydraulic disc brakes Dropper seat post Boost Axle standard Frame TFS – 6061 double butted technoformed aluminium smooth welding Boost axle standard tapered head tube inboard disc mounts internal cable routing BSA BB standard Max tyre size 29′ x 2.5′ Fork Rock Shox Pike; Air; 140mm travel; tapered; platform; 44mm fork offset; Max tyre size 29′ x 2.6′ Gears 12 Shifters Shimano Deore M6100 Rear Derailleur Shimano Deore M6100 SGS Bottom Bracket Shimano MT501 Chain KMC X12 Chainset Shimano Deore M6120; 32 teeth with Merida Expert TR ISCG05 guard – 165mm XShort and Short; 170mm Mid Long and XLong Cassette Shimano Deore M6100; 12 Speed; 10-51 tooth Brake Lever Shimano XT M8210 Front Brake Shimano XT M8120; 4 piston with Shimano RT64 Centerline; 203mm rotor Rear Brake Shimano XT M8120; 4 piston with Shimano RT64 Centerline; 203mm rotor Grip Merida Comp EC Handlebar Merida Expert TR II; aluminium; 780mm wide; 18mm rise Stem Merida Expert eTRII; aluminium; 35mm diameter; 0 degree rise – Size – 40 mm Headset Acros ICR Merida external neck; Upper and lower IPS sealing Pedal Not provided Saddle Merida Comp SL; V-mount; including Merida minitool Seatpost Merida Expert TR II; 34.9mm diameter; 0mm layback; XShort: 150mm seat post travel – Short: 170mm seat post travel – Mid/Long: 200mm seat post travel – XLong: 230mm seat post travel Wheel Size 29′ Rims Merida Expert TR II; 28mm inner rim width; aluminium; Tubeless ready tubeless tape and valves not included; 29′ Spokes Double Butted Black stainless Front Hub Shimano TC500-B; 110x15mm; 32 spoke; Centerlock Rear Hub Shimano TC500-HM-B; 148x12mm; 32 spoke; Centerlock Front Tyre Maxxis Minion DHR; 29′ x 2.5′; Kevlar bead; TR EXO 3C MaxxTerra Rear Tyre Maxxis Dissector; 29′ x 2.4′; Kevlar bead; TR EXO+ 3C MaxxTerra
